29th Sep 1994 – Pelplin, the first session, which began the beatification process of 17 of God’s Servants of the Pelplin diocese;

14th Oct 1994-9th Jun 1995 – sessions dedicated to the questioning of witnesses;

15th -16th Mar 2001 – Warsaw, the 310th plenary session of the Conference of the Polish Episcopate, during which the Polish bishops became acquainted with the profiles of 105 candidates who were to be included in the Pelplin beatification process;

20th Mar 2002 – Warsaw, a working meeting of all the future postulators of the beatification process of the second group of Polish World War II martyrs;

6th Aug 2002 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin appointed the new postulator of the Pelplin beatification process;

26th -27th Aug 2002 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin – in accordance with the standards of the Congregation for Canonization – requested jurisdiction to conduct the beatification process from the metropolitans of Warsaw, Kraków, Białostok, Poznań, Przemyśl, Gniezno, and the bishops of Tarnów, Legnica, Bielsko-Żywiec, Kielce, Zamość-Lubaczów and Drohiczyn;


18th Oct 2002 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin requested the Congregation for Canonization to grant him Nihil obstat for 105 new candidates for the beatification process;

10th Jan 2003 – Rome, the Congregation for Canonization informed the bishop of Pelplin that the preliminary research concerning 105 candidates to the glorious martyrdom was started in order to grant Nihil obstat for them;

18th Feb 2003 – Rome, the Congragation for Canonization granted the bishop of Pelplin Nihil obstat concerning 105 candidates to the beatification process;

27th –28th Feb 2003 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin, in accordance with the standards of the Congregation for Canonization, requested jurisdiction to conduct the beatification process from the bishops of München-Freising, Berlin, Erfurt, Linz, Eisenstadt and Pińsk dioceses;

24th Apr 2003 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin, having been granted jurisdiction from the bishops of Germany, Austria and Belarus, requested permission from the Congregation for Canonization to conduct the beatification process of the second group of Polish WWII martyrs;

15th May 2003 – Rome, the Congregation for Canonization granted the bishop of Pelplin permission to conduct the beatification process of the second group of Polish WWII martyrs giving it the following title: Pelplinen. Beatificationis seu Declarationis Martyrii Servorum Dei Henrici Szuman Sacerdotis Dioecesani et CXXI Sociorum, Sacerdotum Diocesanorum, Religiosorum et Religiosarum, Christifidelium Laicorum et Laicarum in odium Fidei, uti fertur, interfectorum;

17th Jun 2003 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin appointed the day of 17th Sep 2003 on which the first session of the beatification process of the God’s Servant Henryk Szuman and 121 companions was to be held;

22nd Jun 2003 – Pelplin, the Canonization Tribunal of Pelplin started preparations for the first session;

27th Jun 2003 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin requested the Secretariat of the Conference of the Polish Episcopate to book a room in the building of KEP (the Conference of the Polish Episcopate) on the 17th Sep 2003 with a view to holding the first session of the process;.

11th Aug 2003 – Pelplin, the general postulator informed all the vice-postulators about the positive answer received from the Congregation for and invited them to take part in the first session in the Secretariat of KEP in Warsaw;

12th Aug 2003 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin informed all the interested bishops and monastic superiors about the positive answer received from the Congregation for Canonization and also about the intention to call the first session on the 17th Sep 2003.

7th Sep 2003 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin requested permission from the metropolitan of Warsaw to hold the first session in the Secretariat of KEP;

11th Sep 2003 – Warsaw, the primate of Poland gave permission to hold the first session in Warsaw in the building of KEP on the 17th Sep 2003;

17th Sep.2003 – Warsaw, the fist session of the new process: Sessio I – de 105 personis processum adiungendis; swearing-in of the general postulator and 25 vice-postulators;

19th Sep 2003 – Pelplin, the session of the Canonization Tribunal of Pelplin: Sessio II – de tribunalis rogatorialibus construendis;

25th Sep 2003-7th Oct 2003 – Pelplin, the Canonization Tribunal of Pelplin submitted rogatory letters in order to set up rogatory tribunals in the archdioceses of Przemyśl, Częstochowa, Gniezno, Poznań, Kraków and the dioceses of Sandomierz, Kielce and Drohiczyn;

7th Oct 2003 – Pelplin, the bishop of Pelplin established the Information Bulletin titled “Martyrs” concerning the Postulation of the Beatification Process of the Second Group of the Polish WWII Martyrs;

10th Oct 2003 – Pelplin, the Canonization Tribunal of Pelplin submitted further rogatory letters in order to set up rogatory tribunals in the archdioceses of Warsaw and Łódź, and the dioceses of Tarnów and Warsaw-Praska;

28th Oct 2003 – Warsaw, the working meeting of the postulators; the outline of work was discussed; the date of 15th 2003 was fixed as a deadline for submission of notula testium to the Canonization Tribunal of Peplin, the postulation fund was established and the character and form of the bulletin “Martyrs” were discussed;

18th Nov 2003-29th Dec 2003 – Pelplin, the Canonization Tribunal of Pelplin submitted further rogatory letters in order to set up rogatory tribunals in the archdioceses of Poznań and Warmia and in the dioceses of Zamość-Lubaczów and Włocławek;

27th Jan2004 – Warsaw, at a working meeting of the postulators; the current matters concerning the beatification process were discussed – the first sessions were held in 12 rogatory tribunals, the witnesses were questioned and the expert historians and theologian were called;

19th Feb 2004 – Pelplin, the Canonization Tribunal of Pelplin submitted the last rogatory letter in order to set up a rogatory tribunal in the archdiocese of Kraków in causa Servorum Dei ex Congregatione Missionis;

27th Feb 2004 – Pelplin, the first issue of the information bulletin “Martyrs” was published;

29th Apr 2004 – Kalisz, the postulator met the ex-prisoners of the concentration camp in Dachau; the present state of work of the beatification process of the second group of Polish WWII martyrs was presented;

4th May 2004 – Warsaw, at a working meeting of the postulators; the course of the historic preliminary research in the particular rogatory tribunals was discussed and the issue of the fame of martyrdom, as a prerequisite for the beatification process to be started, was raised;

13th May.2004 – Gdańsk, the postulator met the workers of the Gdańsk branch of the IPN (Institute of National Remembrance);

6th Jul 2004 – Pelplin, the second issue of the information bulletin “Martyrs” was published;

21st Sep 2004 – Warsaw, the working meeting of the postulators; the current work concerning the beatification process was discussed;

7th Oct 2004 – Poznań, the postulator met the ex-prisoner of the concentration camp - Fr H. Pieprzyk OFM;

8th –9th Oct 2004 – Lublin, the 6th Symposium of the Canon Law titled “A miracle in canonization”;

11th Oct 2004 – Warszawa, the postulator’s visit to the IPN;

28.12.2004 – Pelplin, the third issue of the information bulletin “Martyrs” was published;

8th Feb 2005 – Warsaw, the working meeting of the postulators; the fact that some of the rogatory tribunals were very advanced in their works was observed; the way of editing the transumpt and curriculum vitae prepared by the postulators was discussed;

22nd Feb 2005 – Sztutowo, the postulator and the editor-in-chief of the bulletin “Martyrs” met the curator of the concentration camp in Stutthoff;

12th Apr 2005 – Warsaw, at a working meeting of the postulators; the works and relations of the expert historians which are significant to the Congregation for Canonization were noted once again;
